The First Days of Summer ♥

The first days of summer are upon us already, and my goodness what great ones they have been. The sun has been 'splitting the stones' here in our part of Ireland and we've taken every opportunity we possibly can to get outside.

The air has that real feeling of summer, hard to describe in words, but you know that warm, fresh scent of happiness and calm that the sunshine brings, tied together with freshly cut grass, blooming blossoms and salty sea air. Summer just exudes happiness and a sense of calm and it's so good for the soul.

We've already laid out on a strand, soaking up the sunshine whilst our eldest skims stones on the still water. We've cooled off in the shade of trees whilst strolling through woodland flooded with light. We've sat on the grass having picnics, whilst the baby fully embraced his freedom by crawling around trying to catch crows who were trying to steal our sandwiches. I even went to so far as to go bare legged in a dress - something I haven't done since the pre-baby days!

If the rest of summer is any bit as wonderful as these first few days have been, then we're in for a real treat.
